TMDB target

TMDB is a movie-and-show target. It synchronizes account watchlist membership, ratings, and private mixed custom lists. TMDB has no compatible watched-history or episode-progress state, so those features are not exposed.

Authorization

Section titled “Authorization”

Hosted via Brokerr (recommended) uses the central gateway and TMDB account approval. Direct/custom mode accepts the operator’s API Read Access Token, API key, and redirect URI. Custom fields remain hidden while hosted mode is selected.

Default HTTP policy is a 0.25-second minimum interval, three attempts, and a one-second initial retry delay. The target tester exposes Test connection and Search TMDB.

Media

Section titled “Media”

The Media panel enables movies and shows independently. Anime with a usable TMDB identifier is ordinary movie/show media to this target.

Watchlist

Choose the source rule:

  • Native Plex watchlist
  • All unwatched selected-library items
  • Native watchlist + all unwatched items

Protect target watchlist is enabled by default. It keeps target-only TMDB watchlist entries when the selected source rule no longer includes them. If disabled, Brokerr may remove managed titles from the TMDB watchlist.

TMDB has no separate Watched or history list. A removed title can disappear from the account view entirely unless it is rated or stored in a custom list.

Ratings

Plex ratings are normalized to Decimal 0–1 and written to the TMDB account rating scale. Removing the source rating clears TMDB rating unless protected.

  • Only fill missing ratings — write only when TMDB currently has no rating.
  • Keep target when source is empty — preserve TMDB rating when Plex rating is empty.

Both options apply to source-to-target sync. Brokerr does not currently perform target-to-source rating sync.

Mapping

Section titled “Mapping”

Manual profile mapping has highest priority. Direct TMDB movie/show identifiers from Plex metadata map without title guessing. Search is available for unmatched manual overrides. Target references retain media kind so movie and TV IDs cannot collide.

Custom lists

Section titled “Custom lists”

TMDB uses V4 private mixed movie/TV lists. Managed bindings support Mirror membership and Add only. Exact source ordering is unavailable because the API does not provide a safe independent reorder operation.

List creation, addition, removal, deletion, Apply, and Revert use the same target pacing policy. Non-Brokerr list metadata is left untouched.
