Profiles and rules

A profile connects one source and selected libraries to one target. It also controls webhook eligibility, default dry-run behavior, schedule opt-outs, media types, and sync policy.

Unsupported rules are removed from the effective policy and hidden or reported as validation warnings. A disabled rule does not imply that the provider field is cleared; it means Brokerr does not manage that field.

Protect target progress protects the numeric watched progress. Protect target state protects lifecycle state such as Completed against regression. They are independent.

For Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby, Pause outside Continue Watching is an explicit state-protection exception. An incomplete item that leaves Continue Watching can become Paused/On Hold even while target state protection is enabled. Numeric target progress can remain ahead when progress protection is enabled.

Example: MAL is Watching episode 2, the source has episode 1 watched, and the show is outside Continue Watching. With both progress protection and pause enabled, Brokerr plans episode 2 plus On Hold.

Start with dry-run and both automatic modes paused. Run a full scan, resolve unmatched items, inspect status/progress/ratings, and only then enable writes or group scheduling.
